Happy New Year Everyone! It seems like only yesterday we were wrapping up the festivities in San Antonio. I am honored by the confidence that you have shown me by electing me your Chair for one more year! With the 2012 Conference to be held here in Fort Worth, I hope my experience with our great town will bring you an exciting conference again this year. I want to welcome our newest members of the TACA Board, Pete Lobato of Hidalgo County and Terrye Evans of Collin County. Pete got his feet wet at the AP&C with planning responsibilities and Terrye took on a very big task right out of the gate by putting together this issue of The Journal. Read on for more in depth articles introducing Terrye and Pete to you later in this issue!
Right after the conference, December 7 thru December 9th, your new board met in Huntsville to review the successes of the 2011 Conference with the goal of preparing for Fort Worth 2012. Your reviews from San Antonio were great and were taken carefully into consideration in planning for a great year in Fort Worth. Thank you to everyone who takes time to fill out the session and overall conference evaluations. Your feed back is very important to us in planning for the future!
This years conference will focus on Leadership in Court Management. We have some wonderful speakers lined up that you are sure to enjoy. Our resident comedian, Peter Barrera was a big hit according to your feedback and he has agreed to return to Fort Worth. But this year he has something really special planned for us with an exclusive TACA evening of comedy at Hyena=s right here in downtown Fort Worth. We will be delving into some new topics in more depth such as the new presence of social media and addressing the growth of Pro Se Litigants in our court system.
Here is a list of some important dates to consider in upcoming year:
Feb. 5-7, 2012 NACM Midyear Conference, Minneapolis, MN
June 17-22, 2012 Professional Development Program, Westin at the Domaine, Austin, Texas
July 15-19, 2012 NACM Annual Conference, Orlando, FL
Sept. 9-12, 2012 Annual Judicial Conference, Westin Galleria, Houston, TX
Oct. 23-26, 2012 TACA - Annual Education Conference, Fort Worth, TX
I am looking forward to another great year with TACA. It is an honor to serve such a distinguished group of professionals.
Sincerely,
Your TACA Chair
